Round the world challenge
Round the world challenge is a fun, physical activity challenge that turns hours of fun sports and activities into a round the world adventure. Hours of activities equals distance travelled, and participants will receive their very own round the world passport to record their progress.
Groups and individuals of any age and ability can take part, and activity can take place within a local group, or within the local community.
So far over 400 people have signed up to the round the world challenge from 7 Mencap groups, 5 Mencap services and 3 other organisations.
The challenge is currently running in East Kent, South Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Merseyside, Tyne and Wear, Middlesbrough, and Oxford.

National Athletics Championship
Mencap Sport, with the support of volunteers, has hosted the National Athletics Championship for over 10 years. On average 130 athletes with a learning disability compete for personal bests and medals.
We have recently added a festival of athletics which is suitable for those who do not want to, or who are not able to compete in the formal championship.

Learning disability and sport workshop
Developed through a partnership between Mencap Sport and Special Olympics Great Britain, this workshop looks at learning disability and sport. It aims to help clubs, coaches and providers of sport understand how to support people with a learning disability to access sporting opportunities in an inclusive environment.
What does the workshop cover?
- What is a learning disability
- The issues and barriers people with a learning disability face when accessing sport
- Different ways of communicating with people with a learning disability
- Different ways of including people with a learning disability in sport
- How to promote sport to people with a learning disability
- Different pathways and opportunities available in learning disability sport
Duration: 3 hour workshop
Attendees: A minimum of 15 and maximum of 25 attendees
Venue requirements: A classroom big enough to cater for the attendees, a projector and flipchart.
Cost: £400, which includes tutor costs and 15 resource books. Additional resource books cost £10 each.
