Light Up The Blues Concert A Huge Success
Kristen & Stephen Stills with Emcee Jack Black
The all-star Light Up the Blues Concert—an evening of music benefiting Autism Speaks, hosted by Kristen and Stephen Stills and emceed by Jack Black at Club Nokia on April 13 was a night of monumental success! The evening raised over $250,000 for children with autism and other special needs. A special thank you goes out to our title sponsor Guess?.
The evening led-off with a VIP reception at the Wolfgang Puck lounge, located in Club Nokia before heading down to enjoy an amazing all-star line-up performance by Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN), Ryan Adams, Rickie Lee Jones, Lucinda Williams, Don Felder, Chris Stills, and The Miracle Project Fly Singers Nick Guzman, Rio Wyles and Lexington Aaron. Actors Christina Applegate, Amy Brenneman, Paul Adelstein, David Marciano, and Michael Chiklis were also part of the program.
After a brief intermission guests were treated to an opportunity to bid on two signed Fender guitars. Jack Black was engaging, as he closed the final bidding at $16K and $17K, this was followed by a lively Text to Pledge segment where guests gave from the heart! The crowd was on their feet, and stayed until the show ended with a finale that included all the performers, actors and major supporters.
The evening ended with a Post VIP reception where guests mingled with the artists and actors.
The event spotlighted Light It Up Blue, Autism Speaks’ annual global awareness and fundraising campaign celebrated by the international Autism community throughout Autism Awareness Month in April. Proceeds from the Light Up The Blues Concert will go towards Autism Speaks’ research and advocacy efforts for families and individuals impacted by the disorder.
“As parents of a child on the autism spectrum, we recognize the ongoing challenges of every family impacted by this baffling disorder and wish to be part of a community that seeks solutions, and offers support,” says Kristen & Stephen Stills. “Light Up The Blues,” celebrates the many gifts of autistic individuals, while supporting Autism Speaks in their mission to raise awareness and continue to enact their successful advocacy on behalf of all those who navigate through the journey of autism.”
